Entry Level Diesel Technician

The Diesel Technician position supports the team with heavy duty equipment. This position will be responsible for pre-delivering, inspecting, troubleshooting and repairing customer and rental fleet machines.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and pre-deliver new equipment
- Inspect, troubleshoot and estimate repair of used equipment
- Maintain rental fleet for repair and cleanliness
- Travel to customer’s location to repair equipment
- Use computers to look up parts, research service practices, prepare estimates and generate service reports
- Keep a clean safe workspace
- Engines – Quick Service
- Transmission and Differential, U-joint/drivetrain
- Brakes and Axles Basic understanding of air
- systems
- Electrical, system and troubleshooting
- Chassis and Suspension Maintenance
- Typing detailed stories on repairs performed
- Perform DOT inspection
- Use and understand engine/truck specific software- INSITE, EDS
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 3-5 years relevant work experience to insure knowledge of engine and vehicle systems
- Diesel engine, undercarriage, hydraulics, electrical, power train
- Proficient troubleshooting skills in engine and vehicle systems
- Excellent Mechanical aptitude
- Proficient at Microsoft office, communication and time management
- Currently holds a CDL or able to acquire a CDL a plus
- Welding experience a plus

The Service Writer perform various service/parts related functions. This position works primarily with the service department but also assists in parts sales.
Responsibilities
- Daily interaction with customers
- Open work orders and document description of symptoms in sufficient detail to provide technician with information necessary to efficiently perform service work
- Verify warranty contract coverage and explaining provisions and exclusions as necessary
- Updating the customer on the status of their work order
- Work directly with Service Manager to schedule and assign work orders as necessary
- Facilitate parts ordering & delivery to keep technicians on the wrench
- Researching and recommending correct parts/equipment for a given job
- Assisting customer with purchase of small equipment
- Perform other tasks as assigned
